Professorship
T.T. Prof. Florian Kaiser, born 1987 in Biberach a. d. Riß, studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart and graduated in 2012 with several awards. During his studies, he worked in various offices in Stuttgart, London and Beijing. After graduating, he worked for Herzog & de Meuron in Basel. In 2017, together with Guobin Shen, he founded the architecture firm "Atelier Kaiser Shen", which he has run together with Kilian Juraschitz since September 2025. Their work has received several awards, including House of the Year 2023, the AR House Award 2024 and, most recently, an award at the German Architecture Prize 2025. In 2020, he was appointed to the Association of German Architects (BDA) and in 2022, he held his first solo exhibition entitled "Unfinished Houses" at the Architekturgalerie am Weißenhof. Since September 2025, Florian Kaiser has run the Kaiser Shen studio together with Kilian Juraschitz. Alongside his work in the office, Kaiser is also active in teaching and research. From 2016 to 2020, he taught at the Institute for Building Construction 3, Prof. Jens Ludloff, at the University of Stuttgart. In 2024, he was appointed to the tenure-track professorship "Circular timber construction" at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
Associates
Jule Mareike Büchle studierte Architektur und Stadtplanung an der Universität Stuttgart. Ihre Abschlussarbeit „Materialkataster“ absolvierte sie unter Professor Markus Allmann und Professor Dr. phil. habil. Klaus Jan Philipp. Die Arbeit wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet, unter anderem mit dem Fakultätspreis 2021, Industriebaupreis 2022 und dem Bückert-Universitätspreis 2023. Sie arbeitete mit verschiedenen Architekturbüros in Stuttgart und der Schweiz zusammen, darunter DUPLEX, Holzer Kobler, asp und OHO-Architekten. Zwischen 2019 und 2024 war sie erfolgreich im Wettbewerb und als Projektleiterin tätig und arbeitet seit 2024 als freie Architektin in verschiedenen Kooperationen. Seit 2024 lehrt Jule Büchle als akademische Mitarbeiterin an der Professur für Kreislaufgerechten Holzbau am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie.
Niklas Erlewein studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart and graduated in 2018 under Andrea Zanderigo. From 2018 to 2022, he most recently worked as a project manager at the Swiss firm Herzog & de Meuron in Basel. Since 2023, he has been working as an independent architect in various collaborations. As a trained carpenter and architect, his field of activity ranges from furniture and object design to the construction of space and buildings. Since 2024, he has been teaching as a research assistant at the "Circular timber construction" professorship at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
